Christchurch is a Church of Ireland congregation. Liberal, of course – interested only in social issues. The size of it is massive. Saw St.Patricks also – just down the road (Catholic Church).
Trinity College in Dublin is huge and beautiful. John Owen worked here under Oliver Cromwell. Both Protestant & Catholic study here, but is has been largely Protestant. We saw the Book of Kells here – dated 800 AD – Latin text of the Gospels. The Long Library was magnificent.
We travelled through Waterford, New Ross, Wexford and Ferns on up to Wicklow (Wicklow Mtns). Beautiful scenery everywhere. Stopped off at JFK’s homestead near New Ross and Wexford. The castle ruins at Ferns were impressive.
Waterford is the oldest city in Ireland. Founded by the Vikings in 914. I found a beautiful descendant – Kristin the Viking near the Reginald Tower built around 1003. Still looks pretty good to me after all these years.
