I placed my order in Dutch which I enjoyed doing – “ek wil graag de Omelet Kaas” (I will have the cheese omelet). We were siting at a little cafe right on the street in the shadow of the Church.

Some More Dordt
The Great Church
This is the huge Reformed church in Dordt where the Synod of Dordt sat for their first meeting (before moving to another smaller building). It is magnificent but too ornate for my liking. The pulpit has a sounding board just above the preacher’s head. There are graves in the floor and little crypts where people are buried in (the important people that is). We climbed up the bell tower (279 narrow steps) and then looked down on Dordt from the top. Dordt is a beautiful town (oldest city in Holland – oldest to be called a city, but not oldest in age). This is just how I expected Europe to be – small streets, cafes to eat and chat, houses and shops side by side, people on bikes everywhere.
